Abstract. The article addresses the issues of the reserves of the bearing capacity of shielded bolverks, taking into account the plasticity hinge in the screening wall and its influence on the assessment of the stress-strain condition of structural elements. The published article presents a fragment of the author's new book «Calculation of sheet pile walls of mooring structures», the publication of which is expected in the first half of 2022
